Gaslighting

"Gaslighting is a form of manipulation that seeks to sow seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or in members of a targeted group, hoping to make them question their own memory, perception, and sanity. Using persistent denial, misdirection, contradiction, and lying, it attempts to destabilize the target and delegitimize the target's belief.[1][2]
Instances may range from the denial by an abuser that previous abusive incidents ever occurred up to the staging of bizarre events by the abuser with the intention of disorienting the victim. The term owes its origin to the 1938 Patrick Hamilton play Gas Light and its 1940 and 1944 film adaptations. The term has been used in clinical and research literature,[3][4] as well as in political commentary.[5][6]" Wikipedia
What a cruel form of abuse and bullying. It can be so disorienting that
the victim may not not perceive or understand what is happening.
My advice to any victim of this  kind of abuse is to consult
a professional.
Ignoring the attacks, keeping quiet or trying to retaliate may incense
the abuser, who may stop temporarily to confuse the victim.
Again, consult a professional and join a support group.
Do not deal with this abuse on your own.

What a nightmare, assaulted by a fellow passenger.

Married mother-of-one, 31, tells how she was 'raped by a drunk man sitting next to her on an American Airlines flight' - and how the company dismissed it as a 'nuisance'

  • Aubrey Lane says she was raped by a drunk man who was seated next to her on a flight from Phoenix to New York City in June
  • The 31-year-old says the assault happened when she went to use the bathroom on the red eye flight
  • She told flight attendants and they switched her to a seat in the back of the plane
  • Authorities were called to the plane when it landed, but only to take Lane to the hospital
  • The man was not taken into custody and Lane still doesn't know his name
  • The FBI continues to investigate the alleged assault
  • Lane is speaking out in hopes that American Airlines and other carriers improve their policies for addressing in-flight assaults

Women's History Month

Feeling Proud.  😄  Enjoy the article below.

NEWSWEEK  Dory Jackson  March 1, 2018

In 1987, the National Women's History Project (NWHP) helped lead a campaign to launch Women's History Month, a time designated for recognizing accomplishments made by women over time. In honor of the month-long celebration, here's a list of seven interesting facts about 21st Century ladies.

Women are winning mayoral elections more frequently: In 2016, women secured more mayoral election wins in 18.9 percent of U.S. cities with more than 30,000 residents, according to data from Catalyst.org
Women are taking initiative within the business world: As of 2015, women in the U.S. owned more than 9.4 million firms, generating $1.5 trillion in sales, according to the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). Women of color, however, own 2.9 million firms.

Women tend to live longer than menFemales longevity is seen across every country worldwide. This can be partly attributed to estrogen, a hormone that has protective capabilities.

A transgender woman was elected to office for the first time ever: In 2017, Danica Roem became the first openly trans woman to be elected when Virginia voted her into the House of Delegates. The 32-year-old managed to beat Republican candidate Bob Marshall, who established a firm stance against the LBGTQ community.

Women have steadily become more involved in the military: Today, women make up 15 percent of active military personnel. While the field is still dominated by males, this percentage is a small boost from the reported 11 percent enlisted in 1990.
Females are increasingly enrolling in law school: As of now, women make up 50.3 percent of current law school graduates, according to a report from Law 360. However, they're seeing fewer employment opportunities, as less than 35 percent work at firms.
Women in Hollywood banded together to combat sexual harassment: More than 300 women working in the entertainment industry—from Natalie Portman to America Fererra—joined forces in January 2018 to launch the Times Up initiative to help put an end to sexual misconduct. "To women in every industry who are subjected to indignities and offensive behavior that they are expected to tolerate to make a living: We stand with you. We support you," an open letter about the cause read. The movement has raised $20 million to date.

Toronto Mayor Bob Ford

Knockout blow! Toronto Mayor Rob Ford charges and runs over city councilor as chamber votes to take away his remaining powers

Hoping that Major Ford seeks the medical counseling he obviously requires. It must be very difficult for his family and associates to deal with his behavior.  He is not listening to reason and he seems to be on a path of self-destruction. When I read about his antics, I can only think "Someone, stop him before a tragedy takes place!"

HALLOWEEN 2013

We saw quite a few celebrities dressed up inappropriately for Halloween this year, but one shocking costume that left most of us with an open mouth was the one Julianne Hough chose. http://www.tmz.com/2013/10/26/julianne-hough-blackface-orange-is-the-new-black-halloween/
It made me exclaim immediately "Julianne, what were you thinking?" She is such a talented dancer and beautiful young girl, but she definitely needs to take some college courses beginning with USA History. Educate yourself girl. Now that you have mastered the art of performance dance, you have time to round up your personality with some textbook education. It will elevate you and prevent you from being "rude" and insensitive to others.
